Lincoln College and Northern Illinois University College of
Law have forged a new partnership, announcing opportunities for
Lincoln College students to participate in the NIU Law Diversity
Pipeline and NIU Law Lincoln Scholar Programs.

Under
the partnership, qualified Lincoln College students working toward a
Bachelor of Arts in Law, as well as those in other majors, may
participate in the NIU Law Diversity Pipeline Program. The Diversity
Pipeline Program will include working with a set cohort of students
from freshman year through senior year. The program is designed to
introduce students to all the benefits of law school and being a
practicing lawyer, provide mentorship, LSAT test preparation, and
the opportunity to experience the life of a law student through
field trips.
In addition, the NIU Law Lincoln Scholar Program will help to
further Northern Illinois University College of Law’s commitment to
diversity, by positively impacting diversity in both legal education
and the legal field. To be eligible for the NIU Law Lincoln Scholar
Program, the nominee must be a current Lincoln College student or
alumnus who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance. Each
year, an eligible Lincoln College student will be awarded a
competitive scholarship to attend NIU College of Law.
“The B.A. in Law degree program at Lincoln College is designed to
prepare our students to hit the ground running at law school,” said
Lincoln College Lead Faculty of Law, Thomas Cullen. “NIU College of
Law will be a natural fit for our graduates, due to their mission to
provide access to the legal profession by members of traditionally
underrepresented groups, their commitment to increase the number of
lawyers who will serve in communities that are currently
underserved, and their history of producing attorneys to work in
positions of public service. We are thankful for this opportunity to
partner with NIU College of Law and look forward to increasing the
flow of qualified law students into this diversity pipeline.”

In order to qualify for the scholarship, students
must complete the NIU law school application, submit supporting
documents, and be admitted to the law school to be considered for
admission.
“The partnership between NIU College of Law and Lincoln College
provides a strong pathway for our students interested in the legal
profession,” said David Gerlach, President of Lincoln College. “The
Bachelor of Arts in Law is one of our newest programs, and we are
proud to be one of only a handful of institutions in the nation
offering it.”
