Taylor drove in three runs as the Royals snapped a four-game
losing streak.
After the rain delay, the Royals scored as many runs in the
first five innings Friday (seven) as they did in the preceding
three-game sweep by the Cleveland Indians.
Kansas City's Adalberto Mondesi started at third base for the
first time in his career and went 1-for-4 with a two-run single.
White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada extended his hitting streak
to 17 games with a third-inning single.
Kansas City starter Carlos Hernandez (5-1) allowed two runs on
five hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Chicago's Dallas Keuchel (8-8) gave up six runs (five earned) on
seven hits in three-plus innings. He fanned one and walked two.
In his previous start, Keuchel yielded six runs (five earned) in
one-plus inning against the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 27.
The Royals grabbed the lead in the second inning. Edward
Olivares led off with a walk, and Carlos Santana followed with a
single. Mondesi then hit a slow roller to the pitcher, advancing
both runners. Olivares scored on a groundout by Taylor before
Benintendi tripled to right-center, scoring Santana.
Kansas City got four more runs in the third. The Royals loaded
the bases with one out before Keuchel struck out Santana
looking. Mondesi then lined one back up the middle, scoring two.
When center fielder Luis Robert bobbled the ball in center, a
third run scored and Mondesi advanced to second. Mondesi
subsequently stole third and scored on a single by Taylor.
Taylor drove in his third run in the fifth, hitting a two-out
single on the 11th pitch of the at-bat against Matt Foster.
The White Sox finally got on the board in the sixth. They got
their first run on an RBI groundout by Leury Garcia before Gavin
Sheets dropped a two-out RBI single between Mondesi and
Benintendi in short left field.
