Call To Honor: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Replica in
Lincoln September 13th through 15th

The Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters
of the American Revolution (DAR) will be hosting The Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier Replica at the American Legion Post #263, 1740 5th
Street, Lincoln, IL.

 It will be held on September 13th and 14th
from 9 am to 7 pm. and September 15 from 9 am to 5 pm. This will be
a free event for the community in honor of the 125th anniversary of
the Abraham Lincoln DAR chapter.
This detailed replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is one half
of the size of the original tomb located in Arlington National
Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. This replica of the most hallowed
ground in America holds the remains of the unknown soldiers from
World War I, World War II, Korean War, and the now empty crypt of
the Vietnam War.
This replica is owned and managed by the Americanism Committee of
the Exchange Club of Rome, GA. It was constructed by Phillip
Burkhalter Builders of Rome. The replica is made of pine, composite
materials, carbon-fiber sheets for added strength, aluminum framing,
and retractable wheels.

The artwork was carved with a Dremel and was painted to resemble
the marble of the original tomb. This artwork of sculpturing the three wreaths
and lettering on both sides of the tomb are the Greek figurines of Peace, Valor,
and Victory. This was completed by artist Chuck Schmult, Rome, Georgia.
On November 11, 2021 will be the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. The sacrifices of our men and women in uniform
are never forgotten, for without their supreme sacrifice of their lives, and in
the case of the unknowns, their identity, our way of life would not be possible!
