Johnson True Value in Mount Pulaski celebrates grand re-opening

This past Saturday, September 18, there was great excitement in Mount Pulaski as Johnson True Value Hardware celebrated its new business home with an open house and 'ribbon’ cutting ceremony.

In true Doug Johnson fashion, no ordinary ribbon was cut at the new store at 501 East Chestnut Street, the former IGA building. Instead of using a ribbon and scissors Johnson used a painted board and a reciprocating saw!

Staff members Rene Hubal, Jeanette Cooper, Andy Vole, Karen Hummel, Cullen Tyson, Luke Farris, and Dave Hansen gathered behind the ribbon with Mount Pulaski Community Association members Tricia Aylesworth and Michelle Hagenbaugh.

Johnson spoke briefly about the move and then grabbed the saw and cut the board in half to the crowd's delight.

After the cut, there was still much activity at the new store. Hill Top Catering served up brats, burgers and hotdogs outside and inside; shoppers were encouraged to check out the new store.

There were giveaways to be drawn, special sales on items within the store, and lots to see.

The turnout for the grand re-opening was massive. People from throughout the community congratulated the business owner and offer compliments on the new location, which is larger than the previous store. Johnson viewed all those who were there and simply said, "I am so humbled I don't know what to say."

Johnson also appreciates his staff for their hard work on the move and the setup of the new store. After the cut, he posed for a picture with his Assistant Managers, Andy Volle and Rene Hubal.
