            | To the editor: There is a
young man in our community who deserves some recognition. His name
is Tyler Stambaugh. All too often, our young people are praised for
their personal achievements (i.e. athletics, academics, etc.) Tyler
should be recognized for the selfless act of organizing the Logan
County Police Officer Appreciation Day. To his credit, he said that
he couldn’t have done it without the help of Lincoln Daily News.
We were impressed when we read about Tyler’s plans for the event
along with his thoughts and attitude in relation to the world
situation and the publics view of the police forces around the
country. His ambition to organize this event as a thank you for our
local officers speaks volumes about his character.
We attended the event, which was held at the
fairgrounds on Saturday, July 10. Sadly, the weather at the start of
the event was stormy but the worst of it had passed by 5:00 p.m.

[to top of second column in this letter] |

This event should have been attended by hundreds, if
not thousands of local residents. However, we were disappointed and
embarrassed to see, what appeared to be, more volunteers than
individuals wishing to show their support for the police officers
throughout the county. We are blessed to live in a community where
we feel safe and will not take that safety for granted.
Thank you, Tyler, and all who assisted in the organizing of this
event and thank you to our police force for all you do to make our
community a great place to live and raise a family.

 Laura and Jim Davidson
