Mount Pulaski defeats Clinton 11-1

The
Hilltoppers hosted Clinton on Friday afternoon at Veterans Park and
with Landon Smith on the mound, Mount Pulaski picked up an 11-1 win
over the Maroons.
Smith (2-0) tossed five innings, allowing one run on three hits. He
struck out five batters.
Mount Pulaski scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Two
runs were scored on errors. Clay Aylesworth drove in the other run with
his triple to left field.
Gavin Smith added an RBI single in the third inning to make the score
4-0.
The Hilltoppers scored seven runs in the fourth inning.

Gavin Smith’s two-run single plated the first two runs of the
inning. Landon Smith also knocked in two runs with his double to
left field. The Maroons were plagued by wild pitches, walks and
errors in the inning and the Hilltoppers took advantage by pulling
ahead 11-0.
Clinton managed to score one run in the top of the fifth inning to
avoid the shutout.
Mount Pulaski won by a final score of 11-1 and improved their record
to 4-0.
