[April 11, 2022]   Hello, my name is Tim and I have been in Emergency Services for over 30 years, working as a 911 Telecommunicator for the past 14 years. In that time, I have seen many changes in law enforcement, medical and fire responses and in the 911 Dispatch Center. We must keep up with the changes that happen year after year, that is why we go through very rigorous training online and in-person.

With technological advancements there has been a lot of changes to 911 Centers worldwide. Most went from using a typewriter, basic phone, and 2-way radio systems to now having over 4 computers and 5 monitors for all the required computer programs. We use a multi-line phone system and VHF and Digital radios. We also observe cameras at the Logan County Safety Complex and Lincoln Police Department.

When a person calls in for an emergency, we must stay calm and help each individual. At times we may be handling multiple emergencies at once. We are the first line of support on any emergency.

So, when you call 911, on your probable worst day, try to stay calm, we will send the Emergency responders that you need!
