[April 15, 2022]    Free agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

The team did not divulge terms of the deal, but ESPN reported it was one-year contract worth up to $4 million.

Watkins visited the Packers earlier in the day and was scheduled to take a
physical before the team made the move official.

"Im officially a cheesehead can't wait to be apart or something special,"
 Watkins wrote on Twitter.

The Packers are looking to boost their depth at wide receiver after two-time
All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders on March 18. Backup wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling left in free agency to join the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are the top two remaining targets for star
 quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Watkins, 28, will bid to rebound after a difficult season with the Baltimore
Ravens in 2021. He posted career lows in catches (27), receiving yards (394) and touchdowns (one).

Watkins has 348 catches for 5,059 yards and 34 touchdowns in 99 career games with the Buffalo Bills (2014-16), Los Angeles Rams (2017), Chiefs (2018-20) and Ravens. He was selected by the Bills with the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.
