Heartland Community College hosts ‘Hawk Talks’ speaking event

 

[April 18, 2022]   The Heartland Community College Honors program is presenting the two-day speaking event Hawk Talks on Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday April 21 in the Astroth Community Education Center Auditorium.

Over 25 speakers will deliver short talks on a variety of subjects during the event.

Speakers include Illinois Innocence Project attorneys John Hanlon and Steve Beckett, exoneree Angel Gonzales, Tim Lybarger, author of “One Kind Word: Success and Happiness Inspired by Mr. Rogers’s Neighborhood,” former Arlington Cemetery guard Matt Kreeb, 2021 Little Miss America Jordynn Huskisson, and others.

“Hawk Talks give students and the public an opportunity to hear about a wide variety of topics, presented by members of the Heartland College Community and beyond,” said Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society advisor Cristina Prestin-Beard. “With these short talks, our speakers share stories that provide a new perspectives for listeners, show off some interesting research, or just connect with the community.”

Speakers begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue through 4:00 p.m. on both days. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
