							“And
they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks
on the colt, they set Jesus on it. And as he rode
along, they spread their cloaks on the road. As he
was drawing near--already on the way down the Mount
of Olives--the whole multitude of his disciples
began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice
for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying,
"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the
Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" +
							Luke 19
Yesterday was Palm Sunday. It is the day when people
layed down their cloaks and palm branches like a
royal carpet before the Lord Jesus as He rode into
Jerusalem on a young donkey and praised Him as King.
It seems a happy day. But for me, it is always mixed
with a sad irony. While they exalt Jesus as King one
day, just 5 days later, they will see Jesus
arrested, beaten, bloodied and mocked with a thorny,
unkingly crown. And when Pontius Pilate asks these
very same people ‘what should I do with Him?’,
instead of ‘Hosannas’ they now shout “crucify Him!”

How fickle the human heart can be.
One moment, we praise God and gladly call Him “King”
when things look victorious in life, but when God
seems to disappoint us, do we too turn our back on
							Him?
But for these very people, Jesus still rides! Even
for us, He rides forth to accomplish His mission!
Here we see a Savior King who is not fickle like the
rest of humanity, but unwavering. And in a world
where people forsake us too and turn their back on
us, Jesus is our faithful friend. More than just
coats or palm branches, He rides into Jerusalem to
lay down His life for our salvation.
