The Hilltoppers put up some big innings to clinch the win in
four innings.
Mount Pulaski scored five runs in the first inning, added one
run in the second inning, exploded for eight runs in the third
inning and closed the door with three more runs in the fourth
inning.
The Hilltoppers first inning was highlighted by a two-run home
run by Landon Smith and a two-run double by Clay Aylesworth.
Aylesworth drove in two more runs with a single in that big
third inning for the Hilltoppers.
Landon Smith, Clay Aylesworth, Lucas Kuhlman and Kolin Gibbs all
had multi-hit games for Mount Pulaski.
Landon Smith was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Aylesworth was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Kuhlman was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Gibbs was
2-for-2 with 2 RBIs.
AJ Bailey, Gavin Smith and Liam Smith had one hit apiece as the
Hilltoppers pounded out 11 team hits.
AJ Bailey and Colt Selinger combined for the shutout.
Bailey picked up the win after throwing three innings, allowing
one hit and striking out five batters. Selinger pitched one
inning and allowed two hits.
Mount Pulaski improves to 8-2 on the season.
The Hilltoppers will host Midwest Central today at 4:30 p.m. at
Veterans Park in Mount Pulaski.
