Charleston defeats Lincoln 4-3 in eight innings

[April 16, 2022] The Railsplitters hosted Charleston on Tuesday afternoon and after battling back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Trojans scored the winning run in the top of the eighth inning to take the 4-3 win. 

 

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Railsplitters put together a rally to tie the game. A lead-off walk to Jaden Klopp started the inning. Andrew Graue slugged a double to left field to score Klopp. Graue advanced to third on a single by Daulton Miller and scored on a grounder by Trent Koehler. 

 

The Trojans had three hits in the top of the eighth inning and scored the go-ahead run.

 

The Railsplitters loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out, but a game-ending double play allowed the Trojans to take the 4-3 win.

 

Andrew Graue was the starting pitcher for Lincoln. Graue worked three innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out one batter.

 

Aidan Nemeth pitched five innings for the Railsplitters and took the loss. He allowed three hits and one run. Nemeth struck out four batters.

 

The Railsplitters fall to 3-6 on the season. 

 

The Railsplitters will host Springfield Southeast on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Mike Curry Field.
