Game One
Lincoln plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning in
game one, with Sean Raffa and Colbie Glenn driving in runs.
The Railsplitters added three more runs in the bottom of the
second inning. Daulton Miller drove in a run with a single and
Sean Raffa drove in a run with a double.
The Railsplitters took an 8-2 lead in the bottom of the third
inning with Colbie Glenn and Jaden Leadley getting base hits in
the inning and both Andrew Graue and Drew Eimer reaching base
after being hit by pitches. Trent Koehler also drove in a run on
a fielder’s choice.
The Railsplitters kept their streak of scoring in each inning
alive in the fourth inning by adding two more runs with the help
of the struggling Tornadoes pitching. After a walk and a hit by
pitch to start the inning, the Railsplitters plated two runs.
Trey Schilling scored on an error by the pitcher and Sean Raffa
scored on a ground out by Glenn.
Lincoln’s lead was 10-2 after four innings of play.
Taylorville added runs in the top of the fifth inning and the
top of the seventh inning but it was the Railsplitters
prevailing in the end with the 10-4 win.
Andrew Graue was the winning pitcher for Lincoln. Graue allowed
three runs on eight hits over five innings of work. Graue struck
out two batters.
Aidan Nemeth worked two innings, allowing one run on three hits.
Game Two
The Railsplitters pounded out 17 hits and scored 15 runs versus
Taylorville to win game two by a final score of 15-5.
Lincoln scored in every inning of game two.
An RBI triple by Sean Raffa in the first inning scored Trent
Koehler with the first run for the Railsplitters and the score
was tied 1-1.
Daulton Miller’s RBI single in the second inning put the
Railsplitters in front 2-1.
Lincoln took a 4-2 lead in the third inning on RBI singles by
Raffa and Alex Hoffert.
The Tornadoes tied the game again in the top of the fourth
inning, 4-4 the score.
Lincoln came up with five hits and six runs in the bottom of the
fourth inning against Taylorville. Daulton Miller struck first
with an RBI double to left field that scored Koehler, who had
reached base on a hit by pitch. With two outs, back-to-back
singles by Raffa and Hoffert scored runs. Colbie Glenn then
added an RBI double of his own to plate a run for Lincoln. Jaden
Leadley’s RBI triple to center scored Glenn and Graue to
complete the scoring in the inning. The Railsplitters had
battled their way to a 10-4 lead after four innings of play.
Koehler led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a double for
Lincoln Koehler advanced to third and eventually home on two
wild pitches. Lincoln was up 11-5 after five innings.
Moving to the bottom of the sixth inning, Graue tripled to right
field with one out and the Railsplitters were a threat to score
again. After a walk to Leadley, Jake Baker singled to score
Graue. After Koehler was intentionally walked, Miller popped out
for the second out. Trey Schilling approached the batter’s box
with the bases loaded and he doubled to right field to clear the
bases and end the game with the score 15-5.
Sean Raffa led the Railsplitters offense by going 4-for-4 at the
plate. His triple and three singles also drove in three runs.
Daulton Miller, Trey Schilling, Alex Hoffert, Colbie Glenn and
Andrew Graue each had two hits for Lincoln.
Trent Koehler, Jaden Leadley and Jake Baker each had base hits
as well, giving every Railsplitter in the lineup a hit for the
game versus Taylorville.
Wyatt Mammen picked up the win for Lincoln. Mammen tossed five
innings, giving up five runs on eight hits. Only two runs were
earned. Mammen struck out three batters.
Jaden Klopp worked the sixth inning and struck out three
batters, after inheriting a runner on base.
With the two wins versus Taylorville, Lincoln evens their season
record at 6-6.
The Railsplitters will host Springfield Lanphier on Friday at
4:30 p.m. at Mike Curry Field.
On Saturday the Railsplitters host Effingham in a doubleheader
beginning at 11
a.m.
On Sunday the Railsplitters will play Breese Central at 1:00
p.m. at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Gates open at noon and
admission is free for all fans.
The Railsplitters played at Busch Stadium last summer on
Memorial Day and it was a great experience not only for the
players but also the fans.
It would be awesome to see Railer Nation flock to Busch Stadium
for this unique opportunity for the Railsplitters baseball team.
There is a chance of rain at this point for Sunday, but the
temperature is expected to be 75 degrees.
