Obituary

Mary L. Krusz, 72, of Springfield, formerly of Lincoln, IL, died at 9:09 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at her residence.

Mary was born April 4, 1950, in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of Harold “Andy” and Norma (Estes) Krusz.

She began her career as a registered nurse and massage therapist and served in those capacities for 22 years. Mary then received a bachelor’s degree in social work and Master of Arts in Child Family and Community from the University of Illinois -Springfield. In 1989, Mary began working at Catholic Charities as a case manager and subsequently received her degree as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She went on to retire from Molina Heath Care as an RN/MFT. Mary was a member of the Southern Poverty Law Center “Teaching Tolerance” and supported Amnesty International.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph Michael, Gary Andrew, and Stephen Edward Krusz; great-nephew, Blake Gibson; dear friends, Kaye Chere, and Judy Kohlrus; and her canine companions, Hallie and Ginger.

Mary is survived by her siblings; Greg (Martha Knight) Krusz, Kathy (Herb Rigney) Krusz, and Chris (Marianne) Krusz; sister-in-law, Nancy Krusz; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and mentors.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield with Danielle Zellers officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln, IL.
