Obituary
Dale Edgar Klockenga of Lincoln
passed away August 7, 2022. Dale was born May 7,
1932 in Hartsburg, IL, son of Edgar and Alta
Rademaker Klockenga. He married Joycelyn M. Lenhardt
October 17, 1954. She survives.
Dale is also survived by a daughter, Gail Ann
Curione, West Melbourne, FL; and sons Terry Dale
(Julie) Klockenga, Frisco, TX; and Gary Lynn
Klockenga, Carlock, IL. He is also survived by five
grandchildren: Jennifer Feliciano, Justin Robbins,
Ashley Gustafson, Jacob Klockenga, Kendall Klockenga;
and one step-grandchild, Joshua Ingersoll; seven
great grandchildren, Alyssa Feliciano, Joel
Feliciano Jr., Angelique Robbins, Norah Robbins,
Brayden Gustafson, Brooklyn Gustafson, Lillian
Klockenga; and two step-great grandchildren, Olivia
Douglas and Austin Douglas. Dale is also survived by
2 nieces and 4 grand nieces.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and
brother, Darrell Lee.
Dale was an active member of Jefferson Street
Christian Church where he served as a deacon,
greeter, and trustee. He previously served as a
deacon at Lincoln Christian Church.
Dale graduated from Hartsburg Emden High School. He
served in the U.S Navy for two years and was a
veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Caterpillar
and retired from the Decatur plant after 42 years of
employment. While at Caterpillar he worked in
multiple areas including the factory and various
office and management positions. Dale’s team
assembled the first motor grader out of the Decatur
plant. |
Dale was also a realtor/broker for 44
years. He was a member of the National Board of
Realtors, where he once served as treasurer. He
served for several years on the board of the condo
association in Orlando, FL where they had a vacation
home. He was a member of the Caterpillar Retiree
Club, as well as, the American Legion. He was one of
the many veterans who were able to participate in
the Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Dale loved his family, church activities, golf,
traveling and their vacation home in Orlando where
he attended Kissimmee Christian Church and often
took in spring training baseball games.
Services for Dale will be held at 11:00am on
Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Jefferson Street
Christian Church. Visitation will take place two
hours prior to the service from 9:00-11:00am also at
the church. Burial will follow the services at New
Union Cemetery in Lincoln, where full military rites
will be accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post
#263.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be
made to Jefferson Street Christian Church, Lincoln
Memorial Hospital, or HSHS Hospice. Services have
been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home, Lincoln, IL.
