Showing livestock in 4-H is a lifestyle filled
with responsibilities. Each 4-H member must care for their own
animal, follow humane husbandry practices, complete quality
assurance and ethics certification and training care, in addition to
overseeing proper animal health and registration certificates.

The 4-H Goat Show took place on Wednesday. The two
categories were Meat Goats and Dairy Goats divided by age. Prior
year Scramble goats were also judged.

Bruce Davis of Easton served as Superintendent and Lane Davis of
			Mount Pulaski as Assistant Superintendent.

Judge Mason Fricke brought experience to the show ring encouraging
and teaching exhibitors in the fine art of showing, and critiquing
qualities he saw in their goats physical characteristics.

Early in the show, one goat had other ideas. Shortly after a young
Miss entered the ring the goat made a break for it escaping to the
outside. It took several extra hands and a little time, but it was
captured and the show went on.

The quality of the livestock and the performance of the participants
earned high praises from Judge Fricke, and often made it a difficult
call when it came to deciding the top awards.

The following participants took home the superior recognitions:
