Atlanta Tourism to host Route 66 cruise-in August 28

[August 24, 2022]     Atlanta Tourism will host a Route 66 Cruise-in on Sunday August 28 from 10am-2pm. The cruise-in will take place on the 1926 alignment of U.S. Route 66, now Arch Street. The cruise-in will be on Arch Street, in between Race and Vine Street.

This event is free to attend and may be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Cruisers and visitors can enjoy the cars and the iconic downtown scenery. It is recommended that visitors bring a foldable chair if they would like to sit. For those wishing to enjoy the cars and not participate, there is ample parking at the Atlanta Public Library and in front of the U.S. Post Office.

Situated midway on Illinois’ Mother Road in Atlanta is an iconic Route 66 stop for those traveling the road to Santa Monica. The car cruise-in will provide both travelers and locals the ability to display and view beautiful cars on a classic road. The event is free to attend and visitors are encouraged to stay and enjoy the cars, people, and food. Chubby’s Bar and Grill will be providing a $7.50 car cruise-in deal. Missy’s Sweet Shoppe located inside the historic Palms Grill Café will be open for cruisers to enjoy delicious baked goods and coffee. Cruisers are welcome to arrive early as there will be early bird cruisers on Arch Street from 9am-10am.

The Atlanta Car Cruise-In will be on Arch Street, around 114 SW Arch Street if you are using GPS, in Atlanta, Illinois and run from 10am-2pm. Check-in will begin promptly at 10am at the blue tent. It is free to register, but we encourage a $5 donation per vehicle. Participants of the car cruise-in will have a form to complete and place on their dash for attendees to see the make, modal, and year and in turn receive a commemorative souvenir. The event will conclude promptly at 2pm. Participants are welcome to drive in and join the cruise-in at any point during the event.
