			Donald C. Asher, 73, of Hartsburg passed away on Friday, August 5, 
			20222 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

							Obituary 
							Donald C. Asher, 74, of Hartsburg, 
							passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the 
							Lincoln Memorial Hospital.  
							 
							A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on 
							Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. 
							John’s Lutheran Church in Hartsburg with Rev. 
							Stephen Goodwin officiating.  
							 
							Donald Charles Asher was born October 26, 1948, in 
							Beardstown, the son of Helen Mabel Burnett Asher and 
							Robert Grimes.  
							 
							Don joined the United States Navy and served on the 
							USS Shenandaoh. While serving in the Mediterranean 
							Sea, his ship went into Malta for a refit. While 
							there he met Alexis Alexander whom he later married 
							on August 24, 1971, in St. Charles, Illinois. She 
							survives.  
							 
							Also surviving are his children: Ian (Alyson) Asher 
							of Johnstown, Colorado and Victoria (Jacob) Crow of 
							Heyworth; four grandchildren: Tristan, Silas, 
							Bianca, and Layla Crow; two sisters: Katherine (Tim) 
							Rademaker and Mary James.   | 
							
							 
                
                  
							He was preceded in death by his 
							parents, and one brother: David Asher.  
							 
							Don graduated from the Hartsburg-Emden High School 
							in 1966. He retired from the Original Smith Printing 
							in Bloomington after 36 years of service. He and 
							Alexis attended the Hartsburg Methodist Church until 
							its closing and are now members of the St. John’s 
							Lutheran Church. Don is a Past Commander of American 
							Legion Post # 1146 in Hartsburg. Don’s hobbies 
							included driving his GMC Caballero, cooking, baking, 
							and candy making.  
							 
							Memorials may be made to Lincoln American Legion 
							Post #263 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
