[August 26, 2022]    The Lady Railers swept Champaign Centennial Thursday night in their first home game of the season at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium.

The Varsity won in two sets, 25-14 and 25-15.

Lincoln was led by Kloe Froebe with 7 kills. Lily Holmes added 6 kills.

The Lincoln JV team won 25-19 and 25-16 over Champaign Centennial.

The Lady Railers are off to a quick 2-0 start thanks to the previous Varsity experience of the junior class and the immediate impact of some talented freshmen and sophomores.

Head Coach Emma Derry has a group eager to play and it shows.

Following the win, Derry offered some comments.

“Overall, we are playing together well and bonding as a team,” said Derry. “Our communication as picked up and has been a huge help. Tonight really showed how deep my team goes beyond the starters. I have full confidence in subbing any of my athletes in.”

With the Varsity setter, Addy Qualters, out due to illness on Thursday night, Derry called upon a freshman to fill those big shoes.

“My freshman setter, Lauren Tedrick, really stepped up tonight as my normal varsity setter was out,” said Derry. “She showed me that I can count on her to step up for that position when needed and in the future.”

Tedrick led the team with 15 assists and even added 2 digs, an ace, a block and a kill to her resume for the evening.

Lincoln will host Apollo Conference rival Mahomet-Seymour next Thursday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium. The JV game will start at 6 p.m. with the Varsity to follow.
