The synthetic skating rink is stage two of a play
project in the park and is in the same plot as the pickleball court
that opened earlier this year.
Davenport spoke before snipping the ribbon, thanking the Lincoln
Park District for working with the county to manage the rink.
The skating rink was paid for by the county using funding designated
for such projects within the community.
The rink features synthetic ice surrounded by a white picket fence,
and an equipment rental shed at the rink entrance.
Guests who wish to use the rink may purchase tickets online at the
Lincoln Park District website or the window of the equipment shed.
Guests may bring their skates or rent skates when they arrive.
The ice rink opens this weekend and will remain open through the
middle part of January. Several were in
attendance for the ceremony in spite of the extremely chilly
temperatures. Among those on hand were several city of Lincoln
representatives include Mayor Tracy Welch, Aldermen Sam Downs, Rick
Hoefle and Tony Zurkammer, and Treasurer Chuck Conzo. Also on hand
was Beth Davis Kavelman with the county and also County Clerk
Theresa Moore and Treasurer Penny Thomas.

Off to the side of the rink, the Brew 66 beverage truck was selling
warm beverages.
The rink will be staffed by LPD, and will include supervisors on the
"ice."
For those unfamiliar with skating, skate aids will be available from
the equipment shed.
