[December 02, 2022] Fresh off her MVP performance in the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament, Lincoln junior Kloe Froebe scored a new career-high of 49 points on Thursday night in a game against Bloomington High School. In reaching this milestone, Froebe also broke the LCHS record for points scored in a game. The previous record of 48 points was held by Stacey Cook.

Lincoln assistant coach Cory Farmer said it best of Froebe’s performance, “Kloe lit the place up tonight.”

Froebe scored 15 points in the first quarter, including three 3s, and Lincoln jumped in front of the Purple Raiders 19-8. Tori Geriets and Mia Clark also had baskets in the first quarter.

The Lady Railers poured in 30 points in the second quarter, with Froebe accounting for 17 of those points. Becca Heitzig tallied six points in the quarter. Taryn Stoltzenburg, Lily Holmes and Piper Whiteman also got in the scoring column in the second quarter. At the half the Lady Railers commanded a 49-19 lead.

Froebe didn’t miss a beat in the third quarter and poured in 17 more points. With Geriets adding one basket in the quarter, the Lady Railers lead was 68-33 at the end of three quarters of play.

Froebe did not play in the fourth quarter. Makinley Knapp, Ceana Adams and Holmes scored the remaining points in the game for Lincoln.

The Lady Railers win 76-37 on what is yet again another historic night for Kloe Froebe. For the three quarters of play, Froebe made 14 two-point field goals, 5 three-point field goals and was 6-for-10 from the free throw line. Her record-breaking 49th point on the night came at the free throw line late in the third quarter.

When asked about what fueled her to score 49 points, Froebe said, “I don’t know. We usually always play good in that gym for some reason.”

That’s a good enough reason then.

Eight other Lady Railers also got their names in the scorebook against Bloomington. In fact, it’s really fun to see how Coach Taylor Rohrer has an infinite amount of talent to pull from this year and that includes the rest of the starters and a really deep bench.

“The girls played a great game,” said Rohrer, following the win. “We played hard in our full court defense and had lots of good looks at the basket on offense. I’m proud of how hard they worked in the game and how much they play as a team. Team basketball is what I always preach and these girls do that every second of every game. Kloe had an outstanding shooting night and was able to make shots off of passes from teammates, great screens from her teammates and created many of her own shots. It’s a big record that was broken tonight and she earned it.”

The Lady Railers also earned their way to a 7-0 record.

In the JV game, the Lady Railers defeated Bloomington 55-12. Mia Clark led Lincoln with 11 points.

Lincoln returns home tonight to play Mattoon in a rare Friday night feature of girls basketball at Roy S. Anderson.

The JV game will tip-off at 6 p.m. and the Varsity is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
