The Lady Railers continued their road trip with a stop in
Taylorville on Thursday night. It was a close first quarter in this
one before Lincoln began to pull away and win by a final score of
72-53.
The two Apollo Conference rivals were tied 15-15 after the first
quarter.
Lincoln jumped in front 35-27 in the second quarter with Kloe Froebe
dropping in six points and Jenna Bowman hitting a couple three's
over the Tornadoes. Tori Geriets also scored six points by knocking
down two free throws and two field goals. Piper Whiteman accounted
for the other basket and the 20-point quarter was pretty much
business as usual for this group.
A decent third quarter enabled the Lady Railers to build on the
lead. Threes from Taryn Stoltzenburg and Froebe might have been the
highlight, but Becca Heitzig and Mia Clark also made key shots to
bring the lead to 50-37.

Bowman connected for two more threes in the fourth
quarter, bringing her total to four on the evening. Froebe scored
eight points in the quarter and that helped her reach her season
average in the end.
But in all honesty, two underclassmen, who are having incredible JV
seasons already, freshman Mia Clark and sophomore Makinley Knapp,
have been thrust into the mix of talent already established on the
court and these two have adjusted just fine. Looking ahead to 2023,
Clark and Knapp are going to be key components to the success of
this team. Knapp at 5’8 has a great presence in the lane and Clark
at 5'9 has yet to show any fear in the paint. Clark was 4-for-4 from
the free throw line against Taylorville in the fourth quarter and
Knapp scored one bucket to secure the 72-53 win.
Kloe Froebe led all scorers with 27 points. Jenna Bowman tossed in
14 points and Tori Geriets tallied 10 points.
Five other Lady Railers got their names in the scorebook also. Coach
Taylor Rohrer has a deep lineup for sure. Every single girl that
dressed Varsity saw some time on the court.
These girls are now 10-0 on the season.
And if you haven’t been out to see them play yet, their last home
game of 2022 is Tuesday, December 13th versus Mount Zion.
The Lincoln JV team remains undefeated with a 5-0 record.
The Lady Railers JV team beat Taylorville 69-39.

Piper Whiteman was on fire for the Lady Railers, finishing with 21
points, all of which were scored in the first half. Ceana Adams
reached double-digits with 15 points. Mia Clark tossed in 11 points
for the Lady Railers in the JV contest.
Incidentally, Whiteman and Adams are two more underclassmen to pay
attention to as the season moves along. Whiteman, a 5’7 sophomore,
saw a lot of JV time last season and found her way onto the Varsity
court, much like this season. She knows the game well and makes the
most out of each opportunity. Don’t sleep on Adams either. She’s a
5’2 freshman with a lot of potential.
If you wanna see this JV team in
action at Roy S. Anderson next Tuesday, get to the gym by 6 p.m.
Next up for the Lady Railers is one more game on the road this week.
Lincoln travels to Charleston on Saturday to play the Lady Trojans.
The JV game will tip-off at 1 p.m. and the Varsity is scheduled for
2:30 p.m.
