Railers defeat Charleston 46-15

Lincoln hosted Charleston Friday night in an Apollo Conference matchup and it was a short night for the Trojans, who were demolished in both contests by the Railers.

The Lincoln Varsity team won 46-15 and the Lincoln JV team won 45-8.

In the Varsity game, the Railers had an 11-5 lead after the first quarter and by halftime it was 23-6.

The Railers used a big offensive third quarter to really bury the Trojans. Ki’on Carson tossed in six points in the quarter but it was consecutive threes by Aidan Gowin, who scored eight points in the quarter, that really knocked the Trojans down. Lincoln’s defense held the Trojans to just two points and as the third quarter came to an end, the Railers were running past Charleston with a 46-8 lead.

The final score was 46-15.

Payton Cook led Lincoln with 12 points. Aidan Gowin added 10 points for the Railers.

Lincoln improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Apollo Conference.

Lincoln’s JV squad annihilated the Trojans in the early game. The Railers were up 18-0 after the first quarter. Drew Hayes scored all of his eight points in the first quarter.

At the half the JV team was up 26-4.

The score was 41-5 when the third quarter ended, with several Railers in the scoring column.
 


The final score of the JV game was 45-8.

The Railers JV team is 3-0.

Lincoln will travel to Jacksonville tonight. The JV game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The Varsity game will tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
