Obituary
Niann-Tsyr Chern, 66, of Lincoln,
passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Niann was born June 28, 1956, in Taipei, Taiwan, the
daughter of Shi-Ze Chen and Shu-Hui Ma.
She is survived by her sister, Hsiao-Feng Chen; her
niece, Yi-Shin Chen; nephew, Kai-Jun Chen; and her
special friend, Marjorie Reynolds.
Niann was preceded in death by her parents; and
brother, Lung-Hwa Chen.
Niann worked for the Illinois State Board of
Education for 26 years. She volunteered with the
SHIP program, which helps with Medicare at the Oasis
Senior Center. Niann taught Philosophy at Illinois
State University where she made many friends. She
also enjoyed spending time being outdoors in nature
and hiking. |
A celebration of Niann’s life will be
held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Niann’s name to the Arbor
Day Foundation, or the family asks that you plant a
tree in her name.
