The Lady Railers continue to dominate the competition throughout the
state of Illinois. They ladies showed the basketball fans in the
southeastern town of Effingham they mean business on Friday night
with an 83-46 beating of their Flaming Hearts.
Just as basketball fans have seen all season long, this group was
out to a fast start in the first quarter, putting up 29 points.
Every starter scored in the first quarter, as the team was led by 11
points from Kloe Froebe. Tori Geriets also had an explosive first
quarter with eight points. Jenna Bowman and Rebecca Heitzig each
tossed in four points and Taryn Stoltzenburg added a bucket as the
Lady Railers were on top with a respectable 29-12 lead when the
first quarter ended.
That kind of scoring is to be expected from the starting lineup, but
what has been a breath of fresh air is the emergence of freshman Mia
Clark. Clark entered the game in the second quarter and was quick to
drain three 3s for the Lady Railers. At the close of the first half,
the Lady Railers commanded a 47-17 lead.
Froebe and Bowman sank threes in the third quarter
and with the rest of the lineup showing no signs of letting up, the
Lady Railers lead increased to 72-35.
A familiar story in the fourth quarter, with Lincoln’s opponent
staring up at the gym wall to see a running clock go into effect.
Ceana Adams tossed in five points to lead Lincoln in the fourth
quarter and Makinley Knapp also entered the game and scored a
basket. The game, which started late according to the schedule, was
over early as Lincoln trotted off the court with an 83-46 win over
one of the better opponents in the Apollo Conference.
Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 29 points.
Becca Heitzig and Jenna Bowman each scored 12 points and Tori
Geriets tossed in 10 points.
The Lady Railers remained undefeated with a 13-0 record.
The Lady Railers JV team got the night off on a winning note, as
usual. Lincoln defeated Effingham 55-34 in the JV game.
Mia Clark scored 15 points to lead the JV team. Makinley Knapp and
Lily Holmes each scored 13 points.
The Lady Railers JV team improved to 8-0.
