Knowing the importance of lifesaving skills, the
Lincoln Woman’s Club reached out to Jennifer Prather, the Pool
Manager of the Lincoln Park District, to share that they wanted to
help in this area.
Like most things, the cost of becoming certified has gone up over
the years, making it hard for some interested individuals to take
the initiative to apply and become a lifeguard. Knowing this
struggle, the Lincoln Woman’s Club has been working on different
fundraisers to help the Lincoln Park District Foundation with funds
to reimburse the lifeguards for their service at the end of each
season.
“This will be a huge help and a great incentive for more guards to
not just apply but to continue working for the two years of the
certification.” Says Prather. “We have been very fortunate to have
an amazing staff of guards since our return from the COVID shutdown.
I do know this has not been the case for many pools nationwide.”
Lincoln Woman’s Club President Terri McDowell has expressed how
important she feels it is to have not just trained lifeguards for
aquatic fun during the summer but how important it is to have swim
lessons.
Therefore, we are excited about developing a program within the
Lincoln Park District Foundation that will help children who need
assistance with fees.

To kick off the building of this
program, the Lincoln Woman’s Club has donated $3,000.00 from
fundraising efforts.
“The Lincoln Park District Foundation is a great place for
anyone in the community to donate money year-round. The
foundation is set up to help with scholarships for youth sports
leagues and swim lessons through the Park District as well as
helping bring the July 4th Independence Day celebration to our
community.” Says Prather. “This is just one example of why we
should support our local organizations. They help our community
in so many different ways!”
The Lincoln Park District Foundation is proud to be a part of
the fundraising efforts for this year and thank the Lincoln
Woman’s Club for everything they do for our community.
