Obituary
Jessie W. Rankin, 94, of Lincoln,
formerly of New Holland, passed away on Saturday,
December 17th, 2022, at St. Clara’s Manor.
Jessie was born on October 2, 1928, in Lincoln, the
daughter of Elmer and Georgia (Sparks) Sheley. She
married Offie D. “Jim” Rankin on March 25, 1951, in
Lincoln. He preceded her in death on May 22nd, 2005.
Jessie is survived by her children: Joyce Rankin of
Lincoln, Donna (Vern) Schoof of Lincoln, and Gary
Rankin of Emden, daughter-in-law Jennie
Turner-Thompson, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four
great grandchildren, three great-great
grandchildren, three brothers, Wayne Sheley, Jim
Sheley and Bob Sheley.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bill and
Howard, one daughter, Connie, four sisters, Virginia
Klockenga, Dorothy Snyder, Mildred Maaks and Betty
Downs, four brothers George Sheley, Homer Sheley,
Richard Sheley and Howard Sheley, and one great
granddaughter, Madison. |
Jessie was a member of the New
Holland United Methodist Church. She was also an
avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini Basketball fan,
loved going to auctions, dancing, going to wiener
roasts, attending ballgames of her grandkids, was an
amazing cook, playing pinochle, but most of all,
Jessie loved her family.
Service for Jessie will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday,
January 4th, 2023, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln with Pastor Jeff Knollenberg
officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7
p.m. Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, also at the funeral
home. Burial will be at Richmond Grove Cemetery, New
Holland, following services.
