Nathan Walker and Robert Thomas, in a two-point outing, also
scored for St. Louis, which is riding a four-game winning
streak. Vladimir Tarasenko collected three assists and Nick
Leddy posted two helpers.
Jordan Binnington made 33 saves for the Blues, who have won the
first three outings of a five-game road trip.
Ilya Mikheyev scored for the Canucks, who received a 22-save
performance from Spencer Martin. Vancouver was without top point
scorer Elias Pettersson for a second consecutive game due to
non-COVID illness. It was the second consecutive game, and fifth
on home ice this season, that the Canucks lost 5-1.
Bruins 7, Panthers 3
Patrice Bergeron had two goals and two assists as Boston posted
a season-high goal total in a win over visiting Florida. Linus
Ullmark made 36 saves to help the Bruins improve to 17-0-2 at
home this season.
Brandon Carlo and Connor Clifton each had a goal and an assist,
and Charlie Coyle, David Krejci and David Pastrnak also scored
for Boston. Brad Marchand (three), Taylor Hall (two) and Hampus
Lindholm (two) each had multiple assists.
Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe each had a goal and an assist
and Eric Staal also scored for Florida, which has lost four of
six (2-4-0). Spencer Knight stopped 19 shots.
Stars 2, Blue Jackets 1
Jake Oettinger made 27 saves and came within 15 seconds of a
shutout as Dallas defeated host Columbus.
Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson scored for the Stars, who
closed out a five-game road trip with seven out of 10 potential
points (3-1-1). Robertson scored into an empty net to pad the
lead with 1:07 remaining, but the marker stood as the
game-winning goal after Kent Johnson spoiled Oettinger's shutout
bid.
Daniil Tarasov made 32 saves for Columbus, which has lost four
straight. It would have been Oettinger's third shutout of the
season and fifth of his career. He played in his 100th career
NHL game on Monday.
Capitals 4, Red Wings 3 (OT)
Dmitry Orlov scored on a slapshot from the right side with 22
seconds remaining in overtime, giving Washington a win over
visiting Detroit. The Red Wings squandered a 2-0 lead.
Nic Dowd scored goals 11 seconds apart in the second period and
had an assist on Orlov's game-winner. Erik Gustafsson scored his
fourth goal in two games and added an assist for the Capitals,
who have won seven of their past eight games. Alex Ovechkin
failed to score for the third straight game. He remains at 800
career goals, one behind Red Wings legend Gordie Howe for second
place on the all-time list.
David Perron, Oskar Sundqvist and Lucas Raymond scored for
Detroit, which took its sixth consecutive loss (0-4-2). Ville
Husso made 38 saves.
Predators 4, Oilers 3 (OT)
Alexandre Carrier scored with 2:48 remaining in overtime as
Nashville snapped its season-high, six-game losing streak with a
victory over visiting Edmonton.
Mattias Ekholm, Jordan Gross and Matt Duchene also scored for
the Predators, who ended that 0-4-2 slide and an eight-game
losing streak to the Oilers. Juuse Saros stopped 30 shots for
the win.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two power-play goals for the Oilers.
Jesse Puljujarvi also scored, and Connor McDavid had two assists
to extend his point streak to 13 games. Edmonton's Jack Campbell
made 31 saves.
Canadiens 3, Coyotes 2 (OT)
Mike Hoffman scored at 1:08 of overtime and Montreal ended a
three-game losing streak with a win in Tempe, Ariz.
Cole Caufield and Christian Dvorak also scored and Sam
Montembeault made 37 saves for the Canadiens in the opener of a
seven-game road trip.
Nick Schmaltz and Matias Maccelli scored and Karel Vejmelka made
23 saves for the Coyotes, who lost their second game in a row,
both at home.
Avalanche 1, Islanders 0 (SO)
Evan Rodrigues scored the only goal in a shootout to back a
26-save effort from Alexandar Georgiev as Colorado beat New York
in Denver.
Georgiev notched his second shutout of the season and 10th of
his career. He made a pad save on Mathew Barzal in the shootout.
Mikko Rantanen had a career-high 10 shots on goal for Colorado,
which improved to 3-1 on its five-game homestand.
Ilya Sorokin turned away 46 shots through regulation and
overtime, but Rodrigues beat him with a backhander on Colorado's
first attempt in the shootout.
Sabers 3, Knights 2
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made a career-high 41 saves, including one
on a penalty shot, and Tage Thompson notched a goal in his
fourth consecutive game to lead Buffalo to a victory in Las
Vegas. It was Luukkonen's fourth win in his past five starts.
Jeff Skinner and Lawrence Pilut also scored goals for the Sabres,
who won their fourth straight game and completed a sweep of a
three-game Western road trip.
Reilly Smith and Chandler Stephenson scored for Vegas, which
lost for the sixth time in its past seven home games.
