Obituary
Susan “Sue” Ellen Ryan, 87, of
Lincoln, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022,
at Copper Creek Cottages where she was surrounded by
her family.
Sue was born September 15, 1935, in Seminole, OK,
the daughter of Albert and Clye (Campbell)
Thornburg. She married James “Jim” Ryan on June 16,
1954, in Sandoval. He preceded her in death on
December 27, 2020.
Sue is survived by one daughter, Bridgett (Tony)
Thomas of Lincoln, one son, Joe (Michelle) Ryan of
Lincoln, her grandchildren, Marty Ryan, Brittany
(Rick) Cox, Andrew (Anna) Ryan, Brileigh (Fiancé
Zach Dodd) Sarnes, Emily (Mark) Dunham, Ryan Thomas,
and Garrett (Jorja) Aeilts; great-grandchildren,
Ashton Sherren, Addi Sherren, Dylan Ryan, and Althea
Dunham.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband,
and one brother, Albert “Buddy” Thornburg.
Sue found joy in feeding redbirds and driving
through parks looking at deer. She enjoyed working
with Lincoln College students, where she was an
Assistant Director in the Financial Aid Department.
Sue, along with her husband, was inducted into
Lincoln College Hall of Fame.

She assisted at the Holy Family Food
Pantry in her free time as well as enjoyed sewing
and cross-stitching. Above all, Sue enjoyed spending
time with her grandkids.
Catholic Mass services for Sue will
be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at
Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Joseph
Dondanville officiating. The service will be
available to stream on The Catholic Church in Logan
County website through the Facebook page. Visitation
will follow the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She
will be buried along with her husband, Jim, at St.
Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Sue’s name to Holy Family
Food Pantry.
Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
