Tri-City/Sangamon Valley outlasts Hilltoppers 62-52

[February 02, 2022] Mount Pulaski hosted Tri-City/Sangamon Valley on Tuesday night and the Tornadoes took home the 62-52 win.

 

Mount Pulaski held a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter as Lane Murphy was on fire, tossing in 12 points. 

 

The Hilltoppers led 26-22 at the half with Clay Aylesworth and Evan Cooper scoring five points apiece for Mount Pulaski.

 

Murphy led the Hilltoppers third quarter scoring with nine points, but the Tornadoes made a run and tied the game 40-40 as the quarter came to a close.

 

Cooper and Murphy tossed in threes in the fourth quarter and the Hilltoppers went 6-for-6 from the free throw line, but it was not enough to outmatch the 22 points scored by the Tornadoes. 

 

Tri-City/Sangamon Valley comes from behind to defeat the Hilltoppers 62-52.

 

Lane Murphy led all scorers with 28 points. 

 

Mount Pulaski won the JV game 57-24 over the Tornadoes. 

 

Kolin Gibbs led the Hilltoppers JV with 15 points. Lamarion Solomon tossed in 14 points and Nolan Deibert scored 12 points for Mount Pulaski. 

 

Mount Pulaski will hold Senior Night on Friday night when the Hilltoppers host Springfield Lutheran. The JV game will start at 6 p.m. and the Varsity game will start at 7:30 p.m.
