[February 02, 2022] Lincoln welcomed Mount Zion to town on Tuesday night ahead of the big potential snowstorm and with an early start included, the Lady Railers made it a short night by defeating the Braves 44-27.

Reese McCuan led the Lady Railers in the first quarter with six points in the paint and Taryn Stoltzenburg added a three from the corner, which helped guide Lincoln to a 12-2 first quarter lead.

The Lady Railers were up 21-10 at the half. Getting more confident driving the lane in the second quarter against the much bigger Braves were young players like Becca Heitzig and Piper Whiteman. Meanwhile, McCuan continued to pick up points in the paint for Lincoln.

McCuan continued to play out of her mind in the third quarter. The senior was having a great game in the paint, pulling down rebounds on both ends and driving the lane to score. Around the five minute mark in the third quarter, McCuan had already tossed in 15 points. With Bowman and Heitzig knocking down shots, the Lady Railers lead was 33-21 as the third quarter ended.

Bowman scored eight points in the fourth quarter and with Ryen Stoltzenburg hitting a three of her own, the Lady Railers put the Braves away rather easily, 44-27 the final score.

Reese McCuan led all scorers with 15 points. Jenna Bowman was consistent with 13 points.

Lincoln improved to 21-6 on the season. The Lady Railers are 8-2 in the Apollo Conference.

The Lady Railers won the JV game 36-11 over Mount Zion. Jane Turner led Lincoln with 12 points.

Lincoln is scheduled to play at Effingham on Friday night, weather permitting. The JV game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. The Varsity game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
