The hiring of Brown, who has worked for the NBA's Washington
Wizards since 2019, comes in conjunction with Ravens president
Dick Cass announcing his retirement after 18 years in the
position.
Brown, 45, spent 2013-17 as executive vice president of football
operations of the Cleveland Browns, which included control of
the personnel department beginning in 2016. His tenure with
Cleveland did not translate to on-field success; the Browns went
1-27 from 2016 until he was fired December 2017.
Brown also served as senior vice president and general counsel
of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2005-12.
The Wizards' parent company, Monumental Sports and
Entertainment, hired him in 2019 as part of a restructuring of
its basketball operation, overseeing the Wizards, WNBA's
Washington Mystics and G-League's Capital City Go-Go.
Brown was promoted in November to president and special adviser
to Wizards owner Ted Leonsis, but now he will return to
football.
