[February 15, 2022] Mount
Pulaski is ready for their postseason run! The Lady Toppers opened
their regional play on Monday night in Cerro Gordo. Mount Pulaski
was quick to build a big lead and finish the game on top of Decatur
LSA 58-28.
In the first quarter Mount Pulaski ran out to a 27-8 lead. Hailee Daigh
poured in 15 first quarter points to lead the Lady Toppers. Threes from
Grace Davis and Je’Na Rentmeister helped build the lead. With Alexis
Wade and Riley May getting in the offensive attack as well, the Lady
Toppers were impressive, to say the least, in that big first quarter.
Six Lady Toppers scored in the second quarter, three of them coming off
the bench. Mackenzi Chandler, Ella Bobell and Kamrie Charron each poured
in baskets to help guide the Lady Toppers to a 40-16 lead at the half.
Worth mentioning is the depth of this team, as those three guided the JV
team to wins all season long.
Mount Pulaski cruised to a 47-25 lead in the third quarter. It was the
lowest scoring quarter of the night for Mount Pulaski, with Davis, Wade
and Rentmeister combining for seven points.
Rentmeister and Bobell tossed in threes in the fourth quarter and with
eight Lady Toppers scoring on the night, Mount Pulaski runs away with
the game, 58-28 the final score.
