[February 16, 2022] The Lincoln Railers were on the road Tuesday night at Decatur MacArthur and the Generals were in command for nearly the entire game and defeated Lincoln 51-39.

The Generals were off to a 17-10 first quarter lead as Brylan Phillips poured in four 3s and Bryan Apholone added one three. The Railers were led by Tyler Sasse, who had eight first quarter points for Lincoln.

Camden Nelson and Elijah Pollice each scored threes for Lincoln in the second quarter, but with the Generals off and running, they were able to hold a 27-17 lead over Lincoln.

The Generals took possession to start the third quarter and a quick alley-oop dunk by Jabryn Anderson made the score 29-17. After an 8-0 run, the Railers would draw as close as 29-25 in the quarter. Lincoln would be led by Payton Cook’s six points, but with MacArthur’s starters all contributing to the scoring, the Generals lead grew to 36-27 as the quarter came to a close.

No matter how hard the Railers tried in the final eight minutes, the Generals speed allowed them to keep Lincoln at a double-digit distance for much of the quarter. After a three by Nelson to start the Lincoln scoring, the score was 40-30. A baseline jumper by Elijah Pollice did trim the lead to 42-34 at one point, but the Generals were quick to rattle off consecutive buckets and command a 46-34 lead late in the game. With under two minutes left to play, Apholone hit a three to extend the lead to 49-36. Gowin’s three would make the score 49-39, but time was running out on the Railers. Lincoln suffers the 51-39 loss at the quick hands of the Generals.
