Lincoln wins the 2022 Taylorville JV Tournament

[February 18, 2022] The
Lincoln Railers JV team won the Taylorville JV Tournament on
Wednesday night with a 59-49 win over Chatham Glenwood.
Lincoln fell behind 13-10 after the first quarter. Darren Stevens tossed
in eight points and Trey Schilling added two points for the Railers
scoring.
The Railers put together a solid second quarter against the Titans to
hold a 25-24 lead at the half. Trey Schilling led the team with seven
points, that included two 3s. Connor Meagher also tossed in a three.
An outstanding third quarter by the Railers allowed them to take over
with a 44-34 lead. Darren Stevens and Ka’ni Carson each scored six
points to lead the offense. Ki’on Carson contributed five points and it
was Drew Hayes with a bucket to complete the scoring.
In the fourth quarter, it was just a matter of keeping the Titans at a
distance, and the Railers did just that. With Ki’on Carson going 5-for-6
from the free throw line down the stretch and the rest of the team
playing extremely well, the Railers won the championship by a final
score of 59-49.
Both teams were on fire from beyond the three-point line. Lincoln tossed
in eight 3s while Glenwood poured in 13 3s.
The Railers were 11-of-15 from the free throw line against the Titans.

Four Railers scored in double-figures: Darren Stevens (17), Trey
Schilling (12), Ki’on Carson (10) and Ka’ni Carson (10).
The Railers improved to 23-2 on the season.
