Hilltoppers open Regionals with a 63-28 win over Farmer City (Blue Ridge)

[February 21, 2022] Mount Pulaski hosted Farmer City (Blue Ridge) on Saturday night in Class 1A Regional quarterfinal action. The Hilltoppers easily ended the Knights season by a final score of 63-28.

 

Mount Pulaski led 22-13 after the first quarter. Lane Murphy scored nine points in the first quarter, including two 3s. Aidan Schneider contributed seven points for the Hilltoppers. Clay Aylesworth tossed in a couple baskets and Jackson Fricke tallied two points for Mount Pulaski’s first quarter offense.

 

Seven Hilltoppers scored in the second quarter and rather quickly the score escalated to 46-20 at the half. 

 

By the end of the third quarter, the Hilltoppers held a 58-28 lead. 

 

Will Keyes’ three in the fourth quarter was the highlight here as the Hilltoppers disposed of the Knights 63-28.

 

The game was over quick, but not quick enough for the Knights, who struggled all season and ended with a 3-24 record. 

 

Lane Murphy led Mount Pulaski with 17 points. Aidan Schneider poured in 12 points for the Hilltoppers and Clay Aylesworth finished with 11 points.

Mount Pulaski (16-11) advances to the regional semifinal against Decatur St. Teresa on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. The Hilltoppers and Bulldogs will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Teresa gym.
