Tuesday
evening, the Lincoln City Council passed a
resolution that will initiate the next stage of
road re-construction on Heitmann Drive on the
city's west side. The work to be done will cover
the area from Olson Drive, behind the Russell
Stover store to the intersection of Heitmann and
Woodlawn Drive. |
The resolution authorized
seeking of bids from contractors for the project.
The city will be paying for this project with Rebuild
Illinois funding which must be used for specific
construction or repair projects. None of the money
designated for this project comes from the city's annual
street repair budget.

Minneapolis ex-police officers guilty of violating George
Floyd's rights
Former police officers Thomas Lane, Alex Kueng and Tou Thao are
read the verdict in their federal prosecution as they were found
guilty of depriving George Floyd of his rights by failing to
give aid to the handcuffed Black man pinned beneath a
colleague's knee, in St. Paul, Minneapolis, U.S. February 24,
2022. The jury also found that the conduct of officers Tou Thao,
36, J. Alexander Kueng, 28, and Thomas Lane, 38, caused Floyd's
death, a finding that can affect the severity of their sentence.
