- Charlene Marie Jeckel, 89 of Lincoln, passed away
peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Copper Creek Village in
Lincoln.

Obituary
Charlene Marie Jeckel, 89 of Lincoln,
passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021,
at Copper Creek Village in Lincoln.
Charlene was born on May 29, 1932 in Greenview, the
daughter of Charles and Marie (Hildebrand) Parks.
She married Walter Georgi, Jr. in 1954, he preceded
her in death in 1974. Charlene later married Harold
Jeckel in 1980, he preceded her in death in 2021.
Charlene is survived by her children, Michelle
(Merlin) Horath of Lincoln and David Jeckel of
Springfield; her grandchildren, Lindsey (DJ)
Maxheimer of Chestnut, Lacey (Justin) Hott of
Lincoln, Derek (Scarlett) Jeckel of Springfield, and
Deven Jeckel of Ventura, CA; and many nieces and
nephews.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her
husbands, Walter and Harold; her son Eric Georgi,
daughter, Sarah Jeckel; and her sister, Dolores
“Dee” Smith.
Charlene grew up on a farm near Greenview, but lived
the majority of her life in Lincoln. She graduated
from Elkhart High School and attended Illinois
Wesleyan University studying music. Her love for
music continued through her adult life where she was
active in the Zion and Immanuel Lutheran Church
choirs plus served on the Community Concert
committee. |
Charlene worked many years at Lincoln
Savings and Loan and eventually retired as the
branch manager of the Olympic Federal Lincoln office
where she loved interacting with her customers and
co-workers. Upon retirement, Charlene enjoyed
traveling with Harold and was able to do more of her
favorite past-times including shopping and dining
with friends. She also had a passion for decorating
and in her spare time loved creating floral
arrangements for her home. With her infectious
smile, Charlene was adored and loved by all who knew
her. She will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
Cremation rites will be accorded by
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Private family services will be held at a later
date.
Memorials may be made in Charlene’s name to the
Dementia Society of America or to the charity of
your choice.
