Larry “Michael” Lakin
1950-2021
Larry “Michael” Lakin, 71, of Mount
Pulaski, passed away at Lincoln Memorial Hospital on
Friday, December 17, 2021. Michael was born in
Lincoln, on March 18, 1950, the son of Lloyd and
Georgiabelle Bradway Lakin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother,
Steve Lakin, and sister, Arlene Workman.
Michael is survived by his wife Lynn Steele Lakin of
Mount Pulaski; son, Tyler (Jennifer) Lakin of
Rochester, grandchildren: Jake Lakin, Julia Lakin,
Callie Estes, and Kori Estes; sister-in-law, Deb
(Mike) Okamura of Washington, and several nieces,
nephews, and extended family.
Michael graduated from Lincoln High
School in 1968. In 1972, he graduated from Illinois
State University with a Bachelor of Science in
Education and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta. In
1976, he graduated from DePaul University with a
Juris Doctor. |
Michael was the Editor/Publisher of
the Mount Pulaski Times for 40 years. He enjoyed
woodworking, and collecting and building trains. He
was an avid historian and always could be found in
his office with his cat, Norman.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for spring
2022.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Logan
County.
