Sublime Skin is located on Kickapoo Street
directly above Guest House Pastries and Coffee, across from the
Logan County Courthouse. If visitors are familiar with Guest house,
they know that it occupies two storefronts. Outside, those two
storefronts are divided by a doorway that leads upstairs to where
Sublime Skin may be found.
The building is owned by Ethan Hoinacki and he has done a great deal
to clean up and refresh the upstairs area occupied by Harnacke. The
area has original brick walls, beautiful ceilings and has been very
nicely decorated by Harnacke. Though it is a kind of steep climb up
the original stairway to the second story, getting up there to see
how nice the area looks is well worth the trip.
The waiting area for guests is carefully decorated with soft seating
and an array of art hanging above the sofa. In an adjacent room, a
pink neon sign with a very retro look touts the name of the
business.
In the spa room, where Harnacke gives facials there is a lovely fern
mural that was painted by Harnacke’s husband Justin.
For the ribbon cut, those who would stand behind the ribbon gathered
in the room with the lovely neon sign, while guests filled the
adjacent waiting room.
Joining Harnacke behind the ribbon were her parents, Kevin and Reva
McFadden, and her husband Justin. Harnacke had mentioned that there
were many members of her church family on hand, including Pastor
Larry Crawford of Open Arms Church. Crawford was asked to join
Harnacke behind the ribbon, representing all her church family on
hand. Also in attendance for the cut were Logan County Clerk Theresa
Moore, Logan County Treasurer Penny Thomas, Lincoln City Clerk Peggy
Bateman and Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch. The ribbon cut was led by
Lincoln Daily News staff Karen Hargis, Lisa Ramlow and Nila Smith.
At the beginning of the cut, Smith noted that Harnacke’s new
business was a result of the coronavirus is some ways. She said that
for once, Covid-19 had produced not a tragedy but a triumph for the
new business owner.
In 2019 Harnacke had completed her training in esthetics and was
preparing to seek employment in her new field. Then along came Covid,
and everything was shut down. Harnacke was unable to seek work.
However, the time of the shutdown, gave her time to consider, could
she operate a business on her own, and she concluded that she could.
Thus, the dream of opening Sublime Skin was formed.

Harnacke spoke next, explaining a little bit about what her business
offers. She provides facial and waxing services.
Harnacke said that it had been a huge group effort to
get the business off the ground and she wanted to thank everyone who
had supported her in the efforts of building the facial spa. She
also acknowledged Ethan Hoinacke and thanked him for all of his work
to provide a beautiful foundation for the business.
Mayor Tracy Welch addressed Harnacke, “Jaimie, welcome and
congratulations on opening your business. Lincoln always does better
when people start new businesses, and we (the city) do what we can
to help. I’d also like to point out that this is a beautiful use of
some of the upstairs downtown space in Lincoln.” He went on to say
that the Lincoln City Council has gone above and beyond to help with
some of these refurbishments. “So you’re a success story in that
respect also.”
When Welch finished, the group squeezed in close together for the
official ribbon cut photo. The guests in the adjacent room assisted
with the countdown and Harnacke snipped the ribbon on cue.
After the ribbon cutting most of the folks stayed to visit with
Harnacke and her family and take a closer look around the new
business.
