It
may seem like just yesterday, but on Thursday, January
27, 2000, Lincoln Daily News rolled out its first daily
edition.
The first of three top stories was written by Managing
Editor Natalie Jeckel. It spoke to why the paper was
being published outlining the vision and mission of
local business owners Jim and Jan Youngquist, Tom
Seggelke, Sam Redding and Ryan Seggelke. The second top
story featured an excellent article by sports writer
Jeff Mayfield with the local claim to fame basketball
star Brian Cook. The third story written by Katherine
Heller featured sitting mayor Joan Ritter in the "Day in
the Life" feature.
While the paper has evolved, changed, and grown over
these 22 years, the mission and vision remain the same,
to bring readers current news in a timely and unbiased
fashion and to engage the community by sharing events,
activities, and local accomplishments. We strove then,
and do now, to bring to light all the good within our
community and give credit to those who daily work to
make Lincoln and Logan County a great place to live,
work and play.
Today, each daily edition offers roughly 250 new pages
of local, state, national and global information and
news stories. You can access nearly 7,000 past editions
in the LDN Archives by choosing the last button (brown "LDN
archives") found across the top of each section.
