Head coach Frank Vogel said prior to the game that James woke up
with discomfort and would be considered day-to-day.
It is the latest issue for the 19-year veteran, who has missed
time with ankle and abdominal issues this season, as well as a
one-game absence while in COVID-19 protocol after a false
positive test and a one-game suspension in November.
James, 37, had been back on track with an average of 30.5 points
per game, with 8.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists while playing in the
team's last 25 consecutive games.
The 17-time All-Star has played in 1,346 games in his career and
is one away from moving past former Lakers great Kobe Bryant on
the all-time games played list and into sole possession of 14th
place.
The Lakers earned a 106-96 victory at Brooklyn on Tuesday as
they look for some continuity after they welcomed back star
forward Anthony Davis from a 17-game absence because of a knee
injury. The Lakers had lost five of their previous seven games
before defeating Brooklyn.
James has averaged 29.1 points in 36 games this season with 7.7
rebounds and 6.3 assists.
