Leonard D. Kemp, Sr., 80, of Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, IL,
passed away on December 25, 2021, at his home.

Obituary
Leonard D. Kemp, Sr., 80, of Lincoln,
formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away on December
25, 2021, at his home.
Leonard has born on March 24, 1941, in Greensburg,
KY, to Owen and Bertha (Milby) Kemp. He married Kaye
Yeates Swinson in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle and
aunt, Wesley and Mary Milby, who raised him from
infancy following the deaths of his parents;
daughter, Terri Kemp; stepdaughter, Janice Swinson
Harmony; brothers, Dennis (Diane) Kemp and William
(Fern) Kemp; and sisters, Clara (Paul) Schneider and
Dixie (Richard) Nessler.
Surviving are his wife, Kaye Swinson; sister,
Margery (Herman) Miller; sons, Leonard Kemp, Jr.,
Kevin Kemp, Michael (Lori) Kemp, stepson, Daniel
(Diana) Swinson; 16 grandchildren, several
great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A private cremation ceremony was be held on Friday,
December 31, 2021, at Lincoln Land Cremation Society
in Springfield, IL.
A Memorial Gathering in Leonard’s honor was held on
Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Eagles Lodge.
