[January 28, 2022] The
Lady Railers were playing without two key players on Thursday night
in their game at Taylorville, but no worries. The Lady Railers bench
is deep and the underclassmen proved they can step up and fill the
void that was left by both Kloe Froebe and Reese McCuan.
The Lady Railers took a 17-15 lead over the Tornadoes in the first
quarter, with Jenna Bowman pouring in seven points and Taryn
Stoltzenburg and Piper Whiteman each scoring five points.
The buckets were a little scarce in the second quarter for Lincoln but
the Lady Railers still managed a 22-21 lead over Taylorville at the
half.
With both Ryen Stoltzenburg and Taryn Stoltzenburg hitting threes in the
third quarter, Bowman tossing in a couple baskets and the Lady Railers
hitting a few free throws, the lead grew to 36-32.
The fourth quarter scoring was pretty much taken care of by Lincoln’s
superb freshman, Piper Whiteman. Whiteman nailed a three early and was
4-for-4 from the free throw line to help Lincoln seal the 45-36 victory.
Jenna Bowman led Lincoln with 13 points. Piper Whiteman tossed in 12
points for the Lady Railers.
The Lady Railers improved to 19-6 on the season.
In the JV game, Taylorville defeated Lincoln 52-45.
Jane Turner led the Lady Railers with 21 points. Rebecca Burge
contributed 12 points.
Lincoln will play Saturday afternoon at Charleston. The JV will tip-off
at 1 p.m. The Varsity is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
