							Weldon “Pete” Willmert, 99, of 
							Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 
							Springfield Memorial Hospital.
 Weldon “Pete” Willmert was born on February 5, 1923, 
							to Jacob Willmert and Core Lee Camper in their home 
							near Beason.
 
 He married Helen Lucille Lucas on November 21, 1945, 
							in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 2003.
 
 Weldon is survived and loved by one son, Dennis L. 
							(Marilyn) Willmert of Lincoln; one very special 
							friend, Neva Bridges; two sisters, Nola Turley and 
							Iona Boward both of Lincoln; five grandchildren, 
							Victoria (Jason) Clarke of Emden, Brian (Jordan) 
							Willmert of Morton, Chad Willmert, Heather Holley, 
							and Bill Powell; nine great-grandchildren; 1 
							great-great granddaughter; and many special nieces 
							and nephews whom he also loved.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, 
							Helen; one son, Darrell, brothers, George Willmert, 
							Charles Willmert, Harry K. Willmert, John R. 
							Willmert, and Frank Willmert; and sisters, Lulu G. 
							Willmert, Anneta Hopp, and Cora Usherwood.

							Weldon served in combat during World 
							War II in Italy and North Africa, being wounded 
							three times. He received the Bronze Star and two Oak 
							Leaf Clusters with a Purple Heart. He was a member 
							of the Lincoln DAV, where he served as president. 
							Weldon worked for Cat. In East Peoria as an 
							inspector for 38 years.
 Weldon “Pete” Willmert has been an active member of 
							Lincoln First Baptist Church since 1948 when he 
							chose to be baptized and join the church. He has 
							served the Lord by taking care of the church 
							building and holding multiple jobs over the years.
 
 His services will be held at Lincoln First Baptist 
							Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022. 
							Visitation will take place one hour prior from 
							9:30a.m. -10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery 
							in Lincoln, where full military rites will be 
							accorded by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.
 
 Services have been entrusted to 
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home.
 
 Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of 
							Lincoln.
