[July 19, 2022]  LINCOLN - Joseph L. “Joe” Runyon, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

Visitation:   5:00-7:00pm on Monday, July 11th, 2022 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in Hartsburg.

Obituary

Joseph L. “Joe” Runyon, 83, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

Joe was born on December 15, 1938 in Delevan. The son of Howard and Helen (Duncan) Runyon. He married Darla Osborn on August 28, 1960 in Emden. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1992. From their marriage they had five children, Darwin (Jeanne) Runyon, Duane (Pam) Runyon, Dale (Roberta) Runyon, Jo Beth Stanbary, and Janelle (Chris) Gunterman. Joe later married Carol Ann Roosa on April 9, 1994 in Lincoln. She survives in Lincoln.

Joe is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Runyon and Janet Runyon; his ten grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Jeanette Clayton.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Darla; his sister, Lois Jean Runyon; and his step-son, Wayne Clayton.

Joe worked and retired from the State of Illinois as an accountant. He was also a member of Lincoln Christian Church. Joe enjoyed volunteering and serving in many aspects of The Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity, and was a leader with the Cloverdale 4-H Club.

A visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, July 11th, 2022 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in Hartsburg.

Memorial donations may be made in Joe’s name to Rotary International or the donor’s choice.
