[July 20, 2022]  LINCOLN - Virginia Gelsthorpe French, 99, formerly of Waynesville, passed away at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Care on Friday, July 15, 2022.

Visitation: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home

Obituary

Virginia Gelsthorpe French, 99, formerly of Waynesville, passed away at St. Clara’s Rehab & Senior Care on Friday, July 15, 2022.

Funeral Services for Virginia will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Maurice Stribling will officiate. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery in rural Waynesville.

Virginia Gelsthorpe was born October 19, 1922, in Waynesville Township, Ill., the daughter of Jesse and Martha Ann McCallister Gelsthorpe. She was united in marriage to James I. French on July 17, 1962. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2012.

Virginia is survived by one sister: Mary Ellen Gelsthorpe, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, and two brothers.

Ginny was a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church. She worked as a Food Supervisor at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for 20 years and then as an in-home caregiver.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church or an organization of the donor’s choice.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
