[July 20, 2022]  LINCOLN - Jack A. Getchel, 85, of Lincoln passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation:  Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Lincoln Christian Church

Service:  Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the church

Obituary

Jack A. Getchel, 85, of Lincoln passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Jack was born February 11, 1937, in Owosso, MI, to Earl Samuel and Geraldine (Linzey) Getchel. He married Ruthetta Sommer on February 11, 1961, in Lincoln.

He is survived by wife, Ruthetta; children, Deborah Parker and Michael (Angela) Getchel; grandchildren, Jackson Getchel and Ashley (Zach) Boulb; one great-grandchild, William Boulb; two step-grandchildren, Rusty (Tara) Parker and Matthew (Lindsey) Parker; five step-great-grandchildren, Hudson, Hayden, Hank, Della, and Grey; and two sisters, Doris Hanstein and Linda Getchel.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Donnie Parker, and siblings, Lillian, Ralph, Earl, George, and Nancy.

Jack was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and coordinator for the Jolly Seniors. He was also a member of Lincoln Rotary Club and a founding board member for Christian Homes. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending his summers with his Minnesota camping family along the shores of Lake Superior.

Funeral Services for Jack will be held at Lincoln Christian Church on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Lincoln Christian Church.

Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made in Jack’s name to Lincoln Christian University or The Lincoln Christian Church Jolly Seniors.
