One pair of ruby slippers is the secret to life, if you were to believe what good witches say, that is.

Lincoln Community Theatre is pleased to announce the second show of its 50th anniversary season, The Wizard of Oz, playing at the Lincoln Community High School auditorium July 28-31.

Directed by John David Pickett in his directorial debut for LCT and vocal directed by Oliver Adamson, the classic musical tale of a tornado that takes the house of Dorothy Gale and flies into a magical land of witches, munchkins, and her little dog too is retold this summer in Lincoln, but not only by Lincolnites.

The Wizard of Oz is a musical with book by John Kane, music by Harold Arlen, and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg and based on the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, made most popular with the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy.

The LCT cast and crew of over 60 adults and children hails from the Lincoln “community” indeed with natives of Jacksonville, Decatur, Atlanta, Pekin, and Springfield to name a few.

Leading the cast is Kailyn Burton as Dorothy, Sue Pickett as Aunt Em, Larry Roberts as Uncle Henry, and Sheralyn Bolton as The Wicked Witch.

Of course, for every Wicked Witch, you need a good witch, and Glinda will be played by Julie King.
