Sen. Turner’s Agriculture Advisory Committee,
which is comprised of farmers, farm bureau representatives, and
other agricultural leaders from the 44th Senate District,
discussed different ways Illinois government officials can help
support members of the agricultural industry.
“I represent a district that has a huge agriculture base, which
makes it vital for me to stay informed about what issues are
impacting the agricultural industry,” said Sen. Turner. “There
is no better way to stay up-to-date on the needs of our
agricultural community than to meet in person with the people
who have direct knowledge and hands on experience.”
At the July 21 Committee meeting, members were given the
opportunity to discuss issues, offer ideas on how government
officials can create better agriculture policies, and ask Sen.
Turner, Illinois Department of Agriculture Liaison Rob Baren,
and Illinois Farm Bureau Director of State Legislation Kevin
Semlow questions. Sen. Turner intends to meet with the Committee
twice a year to ensure that both her and its members stay
informed on current issues.
